Our Comments

Our stay was excellent, hospitality exceptional. Trump International Golf Links Scotland was the most impressive golf course we have come across. It is immaculate, exceptionally tough while you feel as though you're the only people on the course. Fantastic place. we'll be back!

Worth a visit

17 May 2016

Very pleasant surroundings, really like the decor. My husband and I received a very nice welcome on arrival and the restaurant staff could not have been more friendly. We. Don't eat out a lot and I bought a meal deal for The White Horse Inn to encourage us to try it. The voucher did exactly what I hoped it would. We had limited menu but the food was lovely. Having seen the full menu, we certainly wish to go back again. Our only reservation about returning will be who gets to have wine with their meal and who has to drive!!

Unassumingly gorgeous

11 May 2016

Stayed for one night. Outside is plain but lots of free parking. Open the doors to the friendliest service and a beautifully decorated and inviting lounge. My room was okay, sufficiently comfortable and very spacious but maybe tv was too small and net curtains would help. My colleagues room was very nice so maybe had been refurbished. Dinner was delicious once again great service. A lovely stay and I would definitely come back.

Excellent meal

03 March 2016

An early Mother's day meal with my 2 boys and my mother. What a great place! Very attentive staff and a good menu. The only downside is we didn't get to the desserts due to being too stuffed with the starters and main course. However! We will be back. I can't recommend this place enough.

17 February 2016

My husband and I escaped for a few days during the February school break and happened upon this lovely place. Don't judge a book by its cover, the outside doesn't do the place justice. The inside bar and restaurant are very warm and cosy with a wood burning stove to heat you up on a cold day. We stayed for two nights and ate in the restaurant on both occasions. The food was to a very high standard and the staff and proprietor were friendly and welcoming. The room, though small was clean and nicely furnished and the bed very comfortable.
We took a walk down to the beach (about a mile). The beach was stunning with fantastic dunes. Had a lovely walk along to the estuary and saw a couple of seals playing in the surf. A real hidden gem. We will definitely be back.

We had yet another fantastic lunch at The White Horse Inn Restaurant. Food was fantastic and staff very friendly and attentive. A must visit if you are heading to Balmedie beach or just passing through the village. We just wish we lived closer so we could go more often!

A fabulous stay!! You must pop in,,,

20 December 2015

We stayed here for one night and were lucky enough to have dinner and breakfast whilst we stayed, The location is great - the rooms have all you need (we were travelling with a dog) and had space for him whilst not impacting on other guests, Our dinner on the Friday night was fabulous quality and great value for money. We also had excellent beer and wine choices as recommendations, The breakfast on Saturday morning was out of this world. In fact - we are moving north in order to have that breakfast every Saturday for the next 12 months, Amazing value, fabulous service and a lovely location, Pay a visit - you won't be disappointed.,,

Hidden Gem!!

09 December 2015

Went here for a meal with my wife, son in law and daughter in law. The dining room and cocktail bar are very well presented with most welcoming staff.
The selection of wine on offer was surprisingly good. The Menu comprehensive with requests catered for. Had a hot camembert starter which was superb with a lovely chutney and very light bread.
Main course of "Bluetoon Haddock" which I would like to highly recommend. We were never rushed and indeed took about 3 1/2 hours and enjoyed the whole experience.
If you are in the area pull off the dual carriageway and visit this gem.
They have accommodation in an annex so would be worth spending a night.

Booked this for a corporate golf event for12. Decided to go with these guys due to location slap bang next to the Trump course.

They couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was superb and the service was as good as I've had. Euan and his team really made it an. Enjoyable stay.

The rooms were clean but basic, those are next on the "to do" list. Once they are brought up to the same standard as the restaurant this place will be unstoppable!

Amazing Afternoon Tea

20 July 2015

I had the best afternoon tea, possibly in Aberdeen/shire and I have tried quite a few, at the White Horse recently with two of my girl friends. The restaurant has recently been refurbished and looks great, very cosy with a log burning stove and with a Scottish, country feel.

We had a lovely table set next to the fire and were promptly offered a drink and charmed by the owner to have a glass of fizz since I was the only non-driver. The food shortly followed and was piled (beautifully) on the modern, slate cake stand.

The food included:
A sip of soup on top which is the first I have seen in an afternoon tea but thought it was a great idea.
Three or four different sandwiches each including egg mayo, ham, cheese and tomato and tuna, nothing too fancy but on nice soft, crusty white bread.
A cheese scone and a fruit scone each - with butter, jam and cream to accompany it.
A mini Victoria sponge each.
Half a large strawberry tart each.
And a slice of chocolate and carrot cake each (I think - we were told as we were served but I can't remember the flavour exactly).

We were then given individual tea pots and a mug on a nice wooden tray to accompany our feast.

We didn't finish it all and got a little doggie bag to take the leftovers home. This only cost £12 (plus my glass of fizz which should have been prosseco but since a bottle of Veuve Clicquot was open they gave me that for the same price which was around £5).

Possibly the best afternoon tea I have ever had, will definitely be back!

White Horse Gallops

10 July 2015

We had family visiting from England and overseas and were treating them to a meal. There was an excellent choice of food and our party had the beef burgers, gammon steak and risotto. Everyone commented on the quality of the meal. The service from the staff was excellent. Attentive but not overbearing. White Horse Inn, you have some converts, both local and new. We will be back.

Excellent service at this perfect base for golf

14 June 2015

The White Horse appears to be close to being completely revamped with only a few of the guest rooms still to be done. However in the meantime, the service given in by all the staff from the housemaids to the owner was outstanding. We have been going away as a golf society for over 20 years and as far as service goes this was the best. I don't recall the last time we left tips for the house maids but we certainly did this time. Fabulous golf courses, both links and parkland within a few miles drive. would recommend to anyone - we even had sunshine all week!!

Brewdog Dinner

10 June 2015

A real hidden gem ideal for lunch / dinner or anything in between. Went here for a brewdog dinner after hearing it has had a facelift. The difference is incredible with a gorgeous, atmospheric restaurant/ bar. The food was amazing!!! Local, fresh and authentic food and a very reasonable cost. I urge you to come visit the White horse and experience food at its best.
